Jewish Living & Learning
Hillel fosters Jewish student growth by developing a variety of Jewish religious and spiritual communities, celebrating Jewish holidays and Shabbat in a pluralistic and open environment, and exploring our rich traditions and culture through creative activities and memorable experiences.
High Holiday Services
Hillel works hard to meet the religious needs of Jewish students during the High Holidays and to make the holidays engaging and meaningful for students away from home. As these holidays generally take place at the beginning of each school year they can cause a significant amount of academic stress, especially on freshmen.
Services
Schedule Of Services>>
Hillel offers Reform and Conservative services on both Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur, as well as Orthodox services on Rosh Hashanah on Emory's Campus. In 2010, Hillel will also be offering a student-led alternative Kol Nidre service in the Reconstructionist style. All services are open to GA Tech students at no charge, but request you sign up in advance. GA Tech Faculty and members of the Atlanta Jewish community and guests are welcome to purchase tickets to attend services.
Don't have a car? Not a problem, we set up a carpool with GA Tech students so everybody has the opportunity to participate! Email contact Shira to be part of the carpool!

[GT Policy: All students are responsible for obtaining an understanding of each instructor's policy regarding absences; all students are expected to attend announced quizzes, laboratory periods, and final examinations. Although it is recognized that occasionally it may be necessary for students to be absent from scheduled classes or laboratories for personal reasons, including major religious observances, students are responsible for all material covered in their absences, and they are responsible for the academic consequences of their absences. Students should discuss planned absences with their instructors as soon as possible after the beginning of an academic term. Work missed may be made up at the discretion of the instructors.]Shabbat Services and Dinner
Georgia Tech Hillel offers two student lead Shabbat Services (Reform/Conservative, and Orthodox) once a month in the gatech student center with a FREE Kosher Shabbat Dinner served afterwards. Both services are student-led, and combine tunes/traditions from all branches of Judaism.*
We also have a Metro College Campus Shabbat Dinner with neighboring campuses including Georgia State University, Emory, and Kennesaw University.
*Students who need a place to stay for the services (not in walking distance) can contact Shira, and join other students in a walk to a local congregation for Saturday morning services and Kiddush lunch.
